1.
Read Bush v. Gore in the text. Do you
agree with the majority or the dissenting opinion? Why?
I don’t think they should have stopped the
recount. I think that when it came down of not being in favor of one then they
did what they needed to. Either way it would have went I think one or the other
would have said it was violating the equal protection clause.
2. Is the ability to fundraise too important in elections? In other
words, are good candidates prevented from running because they cannot raise the
needed funds? Can/should something be done to correct this if it is a
problem?I think it is because the ones that run that does not come from money will struggle on getting funds and end up giving up cause they don’t have the funds to put out for their election tour or showing people in other states who they are cause they can’t reach them. I do think that ones that don’t have the funds and want to run are passed up and because of that we might miss out on someone that knows how the real world is and could make a better change for our country. If there is something to be done to help them that doesn’t have the funds to get them where they could run it should be done.
3. Why is there such voter apathy - in other words, why is there often such low voter turnout for elections? Is there a way to rectify this problem?
A lot of people don’t like the people that are running or agree with either one of them and won’t vote. A lot think that their vote doesn’t matter and either way we are screwed so why even bother. If the ones that are running would really look at things the way people that is in the lower classes and would walk in our shoes for a day and work on them problems then more people would go and vote for someone that is real and not full of it.
